Shangri-la
Songtsam Meili Lodge is a boutique high-altitude retreat located at 3,600 meters in the remote Tibetan village of Gujiunong, Yunnan. Facing the Meili Snow Mountain range, the lodge features 17 rooms built with traditional stone and timber, designed to blend into the local semi-pastoral landscape while providing modern comforts.
Highlights
Unobstructed Views: Every guest room is oriented toward the Meili Snow Mountains, offering a private view of the "Golden Sunrise" over the 6,740m peak of Mt. Kawagarbo.
UNESCO Site Access: The lodge provides expert-led, private treks through the Baima Snow Mountain Nature Reserve, a core component of the UNESCO "Three Parallel Rivers" World Heritage Site.
Cultural Immersion: Integrated into a hamlet of only five local families, the lodge offers a profound sense of isolation and an authentic connection to living Tibetan heritage.
Curated Antiquities: The interiors function as a living museum, decorated with a private collection of Tibetan furniture, hand-woven carpets, and traditional Buddhist art.
High-Altitude Comfort: Modern luxuries are maintained in the wilderness through underfloor heating, open fireplaces, and discrete oxygen enrichment in every room.
